ARTICLE HERE: OFFENSIVE STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
WVHOO says…
Good analysis…though I don't think RB is a strength right now even though we have the best rb in college football. As we've always seen, we need a capable backup and even a 3rd runner (we had 4 runners, pat, steve, owen and noel last year). I think having only two proven threats in the back field will make a more balanced (60-40 run, pass) offense even more important.

1) Why did you not mention Maw, Figner, Capers, Gradkowski, or Jenkins, I am only saying that I think you short changed us on the O-Line Strengths a bit.
2) It is a bit harsh to call our wide receivers as a weakness, they may be some of the best blocking wide recievers in college football, and they do catch the ball when it is thrown to them accurately. I think Hogan will be a game breaker, but that would require throwing him more then a bubble screen. Jalloh, Lyons, Gonzalez, Sanders, Woods and Arnett bring one of the deepest group of returning Wide outs in the Big East. They all have playing time experience and they are all good atheletes.
3) We are one injury away from disaster right now at running back. Kerns has yet to qualify so you can not count him in yet. Our offense thrives on the superback and we are thin there right now as we look at the depth chart. I would call that a weakness right now. Of course if and when Kerns qualify's then that helps alot.

Pretty good and well thought out analysis IMO DD. I just hope we can get Kerns here too.

Only thing I would mention is Will Johnson as a WR candidate. I think he'll make some plays next year.
Other than that small thing, great job.

Nice post Dog. I would also add to the FB position. Ryan Clarke is going to be great. Do not be surprised if we see him in short yardage situations. He has been compared to Christian Okoye, not too bad of a comparison.

Nice assessment. You might consider mentioning Jock Sanders as a back (who can also catch) to help with Noel. He's a starting back on many teams (who don't have Noel).

and a minor thing... offensive line depth also includes gino gradkowski, don barclay, frank carduff and stephen maw.

Nice. I would say you've overstated Noel though, he has to prove he is the finest RB in WVU history much less recent college football. Adrian Peterson, Steve Slaton, Knowshon Moreno, etc., etc were/are all great ones.
